A project in partnership with Bauer Hockey at Studio Montréal
Design to democratize access to sport in a given region
Ice hockey equipment supplier Bauer Hockey worked in partnership with students from the school's Studio Montréal on alternatives to professional ice hockey, integrated within the city.
Students came up with solutions to serve and support a community of field hockey fans (ice, roller, dek...) around the recreational practice of their favorite game.
After a cultural immersion in the region to better understand field hockey's place in Canada, Quebec and Montreal, they came up with several concepts to democratize access to the sport.
Among the concepts proposed: an application to develop skills outside an arena, storage cabins to make equipment available in the city, a festival dedicated to the practice of the sport around the park, a tour of the city based on the history of field hockey...
"This partnership is a real opportunity to ask questions through the fresh eyes of students on medium- and long-term timeframes or angles that we don't explore as often as we'd like. What's more, it's interesting to see the evolution of the tools of expression and presentation used by the students" explains Philippe Erhel, Design Manager at Bauer Hockey.
Le Studio Montréal, which opened in 2018, gives students the chance to experience a lengthy immersion in international business and technological entrepreneurship. Indeed, students are hosted within Centech, the world's 8th best incubator.

Studio Montreal, which opened in September 2018, is the fourth international studio of L'École de design Nantes Atlantique to see the light of day after those in China, India and Brazil.
